We all like some double XP with our Modern Warfare 3, right? Well, luckily Infinity Ward have been generous with the double XP weekends so far, and they don’t intent to stop hitting that button until we are all too busy playing Black Ops 2.

Infinity Ward community coordinator @Candice revealed moments ago that the next Modern Warfare 3 double XP weekend will start tomorrow, Friday, October 12. Not only will double XP be active all weekend but also double weapon XP, so you can rank up your weapons twice as fast while you’re ranking up twice as fast.

A new Modern Warfare 3 update has gone live today for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Title update 23 (PC patch 1.18) is focused on cutting down lag / latency in the game, no doubt to the delight of those struggling with lag. Among the small list of changes is one focused specifically on Domination, which gets new networking code improvements, with the same coming to other playlists soon.

Here are the specifics:

Title Update 23 (Xbox & PS3)

• Significantly reduced lag spikes caused when someone joined a match in progress.
• Added more matchmaking/performance telemetry to allow us to optimize our backend servers
• New networking code improvements to be initially rolled out in the Domination playlist October 10th, mid-morning with more playlists to come

Patch 1.18 (PC)

• Support for Collection 4
• Significantly reduced lag spikes caused when someone joined a match in progress.
• Added more matchmaking/performance telemetry to allow us optimize to our backend servers
• New networking code improvements to be initially rolled out in the Domination playlist October 10th, mid-morning with more playlists to come

In celebration of the newly updated Call of Duty: Elite, the powers that be will be turning on the double XP switch for both Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops starting Friday, September 28th through Sunday the 30th on all platforms. In addition to the double XP, Modern Warfare 3 will be host to a weekend-long playlist event.

To kick things of, on Friday there will be a Dome 24/7 playlist. Saturday will see a Terminal 24/7 playlist, and on Sunday your votes will determine which two maps will get their own 24/7 playlist. One focused on all the original maps plus Terminal, and the other for select DLC maps.

But wait, that’s not all! In addition to the 24/7 playlists, all challenges and operations will award Double Clan XP throughout the weekend. For the Daily Clan Challenges on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you’ll also get event specific badges. If your clan earns a badge of any level for all three weekend Daily Clan Challenges, you’ll be awarded with a fourth unique badge to commemorate your clan’s participation.

Are you working on getting gold camo or some of the later unlocks for your favorite weapons in Modern Warfare 3? Taking too long to rank up said weapons? Well, fear not. Infinity Ward have announced that they will be flicking on the double weapon XP switch yet again.

Starting Friday, September 14th you’ll be able to rank up your weapons twice as fast for the whole weekend. The double weapon XP is expected to end on Monday, but the previous Modern Warfare 3 double weapon XP weekend – which took place in the middle of last month – was extended through the end of the next week. Fingers crossed.

Infinity Ward have had more double XP weekends for Modern Warfare 3 than I can shake a stick at. To celebrate the latest round of DLC that was released for the Xbox yesterday (Collection 4: Final Assault) and the final three content drops for Elite members on Wednesday, the developer has enabled double XP again this weekend.

Starting today – it’s live now – you can earn 2x XP in Modern Warfare 3 across all platforms. The event ends on Monday, September 10th. Enjoy.

Stay alive in Decommission, as you traverse through a graveyard of ocean liners. Take the fight out on the ocean in Off Shore, maneuvering precariously between three oil rigs. [Original story] August’s Modern Warfare 3 content drops went live for Premium Elite members on the PlayStation 3 today, adding another two multiplayer maps and one Spec Ops mission to the line up. To celebrate the arrival of the DLC, Modern Warfare 3 double weapon XP will be going live tomorrow, August 17th at 10am PST for all platforms. No word was given on when it will end but it’ll likely last through the weekend until Monday.

Grab those weapons that need ranking up and jump on in for some 2x XP.

Both Collection 3: Chaos Pack and Collection 4: Final Assault will be available on Xbox Live first (available on other platforms at least one month later) for the price of 1,200 Microsoft Points, or $14.99.

We already knew about Final Assault’s maps Gulch, Boardwalk and Parish after images and video were leaked recently. They’ll be released September 5th for Xbox 360 ELITE Premium Members.
