Modern Warfare 3′s recently released Face Off mode pits players against each other in teams of either 1v1 or 2v2 on custom-made, small maps for some fast paced, close-quarters-combat. It’s a welcome addition to the game but maybe the option to play with more than 2 players on each team would be good? Maybe 3v3? Well, Infinity Ward thinks that’s the case because today they updated the Elite playlist to allow 3v3 matches on the new Face Off maps in addition to the 1v1 and 2v2 options.

Collection 2 lands on Xbox May 22nd.

If you’re max-Prestige in Modern Warfare 3, well done, but that’s not going to be the case for much longer. The extra five Prestige levels that landed on PC earlier this week will be coming to the Xbox in under a week.

Prestige levels 16-20 will be available on the Xbox when the update to enable Collection 2 goes live May 15th, giving players the opportunity to grind through 400 more levels and 5 Prestige’s. The five extra Prestige levels will be available on PS3 mid-June, which is when premium Elite members on Sony’s console should expect Collection 2 to go live too.

Collection 2 will also include two new Spec Ops missions, Iron Clad and Kill Switch. Iron Clad takes you back to the ‘Goalpost’ Campaign mission and has you escorting a tank division. You also get the opportunity to pilot a tank. Kill Switch takes place in an industrial area in Russia. One player is on the ground tasked with locating and detonating an EMP while the other player provides cover from afar with a sniper rifle.

Then we have a brand-new multiplayer mode called ‘Face Off’. Face Off features Kill Confirmed and TDM but on custom-created, small maps for 1v1 or 2v2 matches. The four new Face Off maps, available exclusively in Face Off mode, are called Getaway, which takes place at a beachside mansion in Brazil, Lookout, which is at a observation post in Afghanistan, Erosion, which is at Roman ruins in Italy and Aground, which is a shipwreck off the coast of Scotland.

Modern Warfare 3 Collection 2 will be available to premium ELITE members on the Xbox May 15th. It’ll be available for everyone on Xbox to purchase a week later on May 22nd. Two of the Face Off maps – Aground and Erosion – will be available for free to everyone on Xbox Live May 16th.

Collection 2 also comes with six new achievements for 150GS.

Don’t Tread on Me (15 points)
Complete the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission on any difficulty.

High Roller (25 points)
Complete the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission on Veteran difficulty.

Not a Scratch (35 points)
Finish with your tank at full health in the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission.

One-Four-One (15 points)
Complete the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission on any difficulty.

Helipocalypse (30 points)
Destroy 6 helicopters in the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission.

EMPressive… (30 points)
Complete the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission on Veteran difficulty.

PS3 and PC release dates are TBC. But expect it to be available on PS3 for premium ELITE members around June 15th.

Along with today’s release of Collection 1 on the PC came an update that adds five more Prestige levels for PC players to go through.

Regular readers may remember that five extra Prestige levels were added to the game back in February, taking the total to fifteen. But, there were an extra five icons in the game files, hinting that they would be added at a later date increasing the total amount of Prestige levels to twenty.

That turns out to have been the case today for the PC guys, meaning that those who had reached the max Prestige level of 15 can now go another five times to Prestige level 20.

Expect Prestige levels 16-20 to go live on the console in the near-future.

Released on the Xbox exactly one month before the PS3′s release date, Sanctuary features a towering sandstone monastery in Central Greece, with Foundation set in South Korea at a decommissioned concrete factory.

So, premium ELITE members, get ready to download the latest two Modern Warfare 3 content drops this Thursday, May 10th.

Collection 1 contains four MP and Survival maps plus two Spec Ops missions; Liberation and Piazza, Overwatch and Black Box, plus Spec Ops missions Black Ice, which tasks snowmobile-riding players with gaining access to a diamond mine and planting explosives in it, and Negotiator, which takes players to India for a hostage extraction situation.

Starting Thursday, April 26 at 10am Pacific, Activision are giving you the chance to test out Modern Warfare 3 on the PC for a whole weekend free of charge.
